THE PRODUCT

SynaptiQ is 3E’s SaaS product, an independent, evolutionary software suite for asset management of renewable energy portfolios (more information on http://www.3e.eu/synaptiq). SynaptiQ collects near-real time data of more than 5 million devices spread over 10 thousands utility scale and commercial solar and wind sites spread all over the globe. The added value realized by SynaptiQ is performance improvement and operational cost reduction for its Operations & Maintenance customers. The platform combines domains related to big data, high-performance processing, IoT protocols and AI and is the product of the interactions between a multidisciplinary team of developers, scientists, renewable energy architects, electrical engineers, and enthusiast sales that implement, operate and commercialize SynaptiQ worldwide.

What you will be doing

With a constantly growing customer portfolio and a platform rapidly increasing in size with new plants, devices and measurements, we are looking for a Junior Data Engineer who will support the team on the new plant deployment projects and the customer support activities. You will focus on the data collection and information modelling processes, aiming at reliability, accuracy and scalability.

As a member of the SynaptiQ Operations Team, you will report to the Product Delivery Manager, and will work side by side with our renewable energy experts, in close collaboration with our development team.

As Junior Data Engineer, you will make sure the data is collected from the parks with the appropriate technology and configure the ETL process to make it available for further computations. You support your colleagues with all data management issues they may encounter.

Next to that, you apply your data-oriented competences to assist in the realisation or debugging of custom data analyses scrips for our operations and data visualisations in Excel or Power BI for our customers.

Your day-to-day work will be varied, and partially filled by following activities:

  • Develop or configure new data collection scripts that fecht data from API, FTP push/pull, or databases
  • Write scripts to automate data management jobs and handle various file formats.
  • Query internal or external databases to manage the needed data.
  • Troubleshoot the data flow issues between source and destination environments
  • Analyse, propose and implement automation methods to improve the deployment and support processes.
  • Develop or improve customer reports and internal reporting using excel and Power BI
  • Discuss the issues and technical analysis to the customers
  • Train the customers on specific data flow and tools

We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills and a very rigorous mindset, to implement the planned solutions, identify theneeded bug fixing, analyse the reported issues and accurately communicate the status to internal and external partners. Creativity, innovation, and thinking outside of the box to constantly propose new improvements on the existing methods would be great assets. Someone who is hungry for knowledge and service oriented. The technical skills we are looking for:

  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data files and debug internal tools
  • Coding skills to write scripts to analyse, extract and transform data (e.g. Python, Bash, Java)
  • Experience with IoT communication protocols and API’s (e.g. REST API, OPC) are highly appreciated
  • SQL knowledge to extract, transform and load data is mandatory
  • Reporting experience accessing Data Warehouse through excel or Power BI is appreciated
  • Renewable energy domain knowledge is an asset
  • Experience with ticketing tools to support our customers is an added value
