Technical Due Diligence Consultant PV and Wind Energy - South Africa

Function

3E’s is looking for a technical consultant in solar and wind energy. The senior profile should have with a proven track record in due diligence and technical advisory services, preferably in an international context.

Your main tasks will be to carry out consultancy services such as technical due diligence and construction monitoring for lenders and investors. We also expect to support 3E’s business development activities, by active account management and preparation of proposals.

Responsibilities

Managing and executing high quality technical advisory works:

  • Providing technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility
  • Managing technical due diligence assignments
  • Reviewing overall project design and suggesting potential improvements
  • Reviewing/negotiating key construction contracts
  • Supporting sponsor(s) and lender(s) throughout the financial close process
  • Liaising with legal and financial advisors
  • Assessing technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies to reduce risk over project CAPEX, OPEX and revenues
  • Following up project construction and acceptance
  • Acting as main interface and manage the relationship with clients

Contributing to business development and acquisition:

  • Preparing proposals for client’s projects such as due diligence, owner’s engineering, resource assessment & construction monitoring
  • Managing existing and new customer relationships through efficient and structured account management

Profile

  • Electrical or mechanical engineer with 1 to 7 years’ experience in engineering, design and/or construction
  • Temporary or permanent work / residence permit in South Africa

Skills

  • Good understanding of the renewable energy sector, with specific knowledge and understanding of the onshore wind energy industry
  • Knowledge of the PV/Wind energy sector
  • Previous work experience in an international environment, preferably experience in African context is an asset.
  • Proven experience as technical consultant in the wind and/or PV energy sector is an asset.
  • General technical knowledge of the design, operations and maintenance of onshore wind electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to form and lead project teams, dispatch and manage work streams and projects on time and budget
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Fluent in English and/or in Dutch/French; knowledge of additional languages is an asset
  • High business awareness and good network in Africa and emerging markets
  • Experience in project management and follow up of client contacts.
  • Ability to travel to site, customer meetings and 3E’s external offices in Belgium or France on a regular basis
